Halloween Wrap Up

Every year expectations for Halloween is set with higher standards than the year before- and as I get older I am reluctant to participate in the madness. By September all my elaborate costume ideas have fallen by the waist side and conveniently debt collectors have begun their hunt.
Not including the dozen “referees” spotted at  multiple parties or the bargain makeshift "nerd" costumes I have seen during the month of October- I did spot some really cute and creative trends I will most def follow next year.

Nails:
My friend Natalie had a black/orange color manicure.(I personally would have kept the ring ringer orange while keeping the others black.)
It's a great festive color combo and is appropriate for those who are in a profession where "dressing up" is prohibited.

This is another trend I fell in love with. Matte finished nail polish is prob my favorite nail color of them all (there is a lot) it creates the illusion of a chalk board type texture. Including the glossy black is a fun contrast- not to mention a trend you can wear all year long not just for Halloween.  "Back in Black''

Pumpkin Carvings:

Celebrity Costume:

Any female who has wanted to tap into their slutty side for Halloween has always tempted the Poison Ivy look. 9 out of 10 times the person just look like they where wrapped up in plastic vines with their vagina's in the air.- Kim Kardasian does it right.

In addition to the trends I love- there are also trends that need to stop..including-the distribution of Tootsie Rolls.

Pandora, your mistakes are a true delight.

So #Pandora, a few weeks ago while listening to my '90's pop music' station you took it upon yourself to play everything Justin Timberlake. Now apparently my "Jay-Z and Kanye West music' station has changed to.... 'Eminem music'? I wasn't complaining then....and I’m not complaining now. #Yougotme

Organizational Piece-Sunglasses.

Saw this really cool do it yourself project on Cupcakes and Cashmere!I always end up losing a pair of sunglasses then quickly replacing them. After a few months I'll find most of the ones I had lost in random purses eventually resulting to a handful of sunglasses.  I love this organizational piece.

Back in Black

Ashley Olsen
Many can view the color 'black' as a mature or otherwise depressing or "plain" look to wear- but in reality, this reborn color has given new life to a woman's 'Power, Sex, and Mystery'

Tip: When layering multi black pieces, play with texture.

Here are a few of my favorite 'black attire' moments:
I especially love the young, fresh, modern way of wearing a timeless color.

Beyonce, Lauren Conrad, Ashlee Simpson

Favorite 'black red carpet' Moment:
Gwyneth Paltrow & Victoria Beckham

More than a 'Little black dress' Picks:

Wednesday 'Hump Day'-Latte.

We are officially on week two of the Wednesday 'Hump Day' Latte, started by Hilda Morfi.
I was feeling Countess like today and since I have been back to Miami from New York last weekend, I have been struggling with "withdrawals."

Like every other group of female friends, we automatically compare ourselves to Bravo's The Real Housewives of..... every season- easily identifying who are character would be. The Real Housewives of New York, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps  reminds me of my best friend back home-

Dear Shy Shy Baby,
I miss you, Darling.
Chic, C`est La vie.

Learn more about how you can perk up from your Wednesday(hump of the week) by creating alter egos at Starbucks.

Winter past times influences fashion.

Hockey Season's influence in fashion has been made apparent with a new "skate shoe."
I love the front of this shoe, the brown is such a luxurious color and the boot gives a pair of denim a polished look.
Turn the shoe to the side and I just..... womp.
I don't understand literate interpretations- and would be just as satisfied with those pair of shoes without the entire platform attached to the heel.

if you want to wear a ice skate- wear an ice skate.

What are your thoughts?

Jay-Z and Kanye West- Watch The Throne Tour.

It's great to read a review of a tour that focuses on the artist's performance!
"After hearing months of hype about and finally hearing the now-classic album Watch The Throne, the concert had a lot to uphold with these monumental names. The “Watch The Throne” concert totally surpassed anything you would expect. From the 50 foot cubes, to the laser show and spectacular visuals, and in-and-out mini sets, the pair moved like a duo that has performed consistently for years.
And as for the whisper of what special guests would appear, Jay-Z and Kanye proved that you don’t need any guests to have a stellar show!! The pair did the show on their own, and the crowd got exactly what they wanted pure Kanye West and Jay-Z, as individuals and as a duo. Hip-Hop Royalty has spoken, and a new bar has been set. As of right now, the throne is secured."-AllHipHop.com

Flashback Fridays-Jessica Simpson 'I think i'm in love'

"Jack and Diane" by John Mellencamp came on the radio this morning. Even though I love that song for the first few seconds after the track began I secretly hoped it was Jessica Simpson's "I think I'm in love."

Yay to 90's pop music and #FlashbackFridays!

Modern Earmuffs.

It's time to weather proof your wardrobe. This Braided Cable Knit Ear Warmer $24, available at Urban Outfitters is a cute autumn essential to keep your ears warm and hair frizz-less.

Justin Timberlake- You hate to love him.

Justin Timberlake, VMagazine

I wouldn't doubt JT a seat in the white house. Everything this man does turns to Gold. music, comedy, movies.... I can not deny his talent and his amazing business ethic. Nevermind "dipping his toes" into politics... at this point he can submerge himself and most likely still excel.

Gwen Stefanie. The 20th Century Style Icon.

One of my favorite icons is Gwen Stefanie.
There is nothing more empowering than a strong talented female who is constantly reinventing herself without compromising who she is.
With a magnetic energy on stage, she catches attention with not only her lyrics but her fashion choices.

Here are a few of Gwen's best evolved looks. I appreciate her bold statements during the earlier years of No Doubt, but I ESPECIALLY love those same statements polished and grown up.

'The New Look' is the ''New Look'' again.

The ''New Look" in the 1950's  has transended into the "Classic Look'' in the 20th Century. It's origin stems from Christian Dior's post-war clothing "Corelle," a name that suggests a silhoutte with prominant shoulders, accentuated hips, and small waist. Definng a womans shape instantly draws attention to a females sexuality without being overtly suggestive. Conservative woman-never go out of style.
I have been noticing the revival of this universal flattering piece and I couldn't help but share a few of my favorites. Award season will begin soon, and spring is just around the corner. I have no doubt we will be spotting this trend on the red carpet and for the romantics....-down the isle.

Hump day+Latte=a Good day.

Get through another Wednesday work day with a Latte at Starbucks!

Entertain yourself and get through the mid week hump by creating an alter ego when ordering at Starbucks.

Cat Eyes.

One of my favorite looks is 'The Cat Eye'
Admittedly it is not my strongest look to accomplish on myself. My eyes never end up matching and I always end up with a thicker line then I originally planned on having. This video was a great tutorial to practice with!
Yay LC for coming in clutch!

Funkshion Fashion Week: Miami

FUNKSHION Fashion Week @Funkshionfw: Florida kicked off it's premiere fashion shows on Wednesday October 19th thru Saturday October 22nd, 2011 in Miami Beach at the Satai Hotel and The Moore Building located in the Design District. The four day event provided fun, new, and innovative designs by many designers such as MIUAD,Sarahi House of Fashion, and Toxic Sadie Swimwear.

Toxic Sadie's PRreps, Johann Cuervo and Alison Stiegler

Spotted in the front row The Nu Chic, Mutha Versacci, South Florida's premiere dance artist, celebrated her house, disco, dance, pop, and r&b, infused EP 'The Nu Chic' as the soundtrack to Funkshion Fashion Week.

Nora Sahraoui, head designer of XELA, Made her debut during Funkshion with her 2012 Moroccan and French inspired collection.
"I am wholly French and wholly Moroccan. The influences of these contrasting cultures combine in me and are evident in my life and in Xela fashion. Morocco is a vibrant land with proud people, flavorful food, pulsating music and an abundantly rich culture. France is a land of haute couture fashion and an elegant and refined style. These counties are the fertile ground from which I discovered my love for fashion and are the spirit behind Xela Fashion."
I love it when a joke, a story,- better yet.. a fashion show comes full circle.

Designer, Nora, shared traditional cultural pieces in luxurious fabric vibrant in color with intricate details in the beginning of the show which then progressed to a more modern 'ready to wear' style of design eventually ending with elaborate gowns including a multi teared wedding dress.
